COVID-19: Kenya records 271 new cases, 208 recoveries, and 5 deaths.

271 people have tested positive for COVID-19 in the last 24 hours out of a sample size of 4,019, bringing the total number of confirmed cases in the country to 30,636.

In a statement, Dr. Rashid Aman said majority of the new patients – 267 – were Kenyans and the rest foreigners and that the youngest was a one-year-old and the oldest 80, while 178 were male and 93 female.

Dr. Rashid Aman said 208 more patients were cleared after recovering from the virus, including 161 who were on home-based care. 47 were admitted to various hospitals. Total recoveries 17,368.

Health CAS Dr. Rashid Aman, in the daily briefing given from KMTC Karen, also announced that 5 more patients succumbed to the virus raising the death toll to 487.

The number of cases have in the last few days gone down however CAS Aman said “It is too early for us to determine if our curve is coming down, our testing fluctuates due to availability of testing kits.”

Nairobi County continues leading with 99 cases followed by Kiambu and Laikipia with 20 cases each.

Migori has 18 cases, Makueni four (4), Nakuru four (4), Machakos, Kilifi, and Tana River three (3) each, Embu and Kitui have one (1) each.
