Kenya extends Covid-19 curfew by 30 days

The Government has extended the nationwide curfew for a further 30 days.

The announcement made by Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe on Monday comes against a backdrop of declining Covid-19 infections. Kenya has sustained a low positivity rate of less than 5pc.

He said the extension of the nationwide curfew was due to the high positivity rate recorded which was above the recommended at a high testing level.

According to CS Kagwe, the 30-day extension will also ensure the Government achieves its targeted mass Covid-19 vaccination program across the country.

He said a formal announcement will be made by end of the month after National Emergency Response Committee on Coronavirus meets.

In the mean time, all Covid-19 measures and protocols will remain the same.
