StanChart Nairobi Marathon to affect traffic flow over the weekend

The National Police Service has called for public’s cooperation during the Standard Chartered Nairobi Marathon 2021 slated for 31st October.

The police say the international event will affect transport in Nairobi City and urged for patience among motorists.

“The event shall affect transport within the city and environs, inconveniencing motorists and other road users. Affected roads are: Southern bypass from Carnivore to Dagoreti Corner interchange, which shall remain closed from 1.00 am to 2.00 pm when the marathon is estimated to end.”

Road users have also been advised to avoid using Mombasa road turnoff to Southern bypass at Ole Sereni Hotel as well as Mombasa road turnoff at ICD which shall remain closed.

The public is further advised to use main Mombasa Road or alternative routes than those to be closed to avoid inconvenience.

During the launching of the race, Chairman of Organizing Committee Peter Gitau encouraged applications from interested parties across the globe indicating that anyone can participate wherever they will be.

“We have opened a virtue Marathon that will be between the 25th and 31st of October. This allows people to register and run, literally from anywhere around the world,” Mr. Gitau said.
