Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) has announced planned road closure that will affect traffic flow along Langata Road and Mombasa Road.
Through a public notice issued on Wednesday, November 10, KeNHA informed motorists and other road users that Langata Road will be closed for eight hours.
According to the notice, the road will be closed on Sunday, November 14 from 5:00 am to 12.00 noon.
This disruption will be caused by the ongoing construction along the road and the planned erection of the Nyayo footbridge. This will affect the free flow of traffic from the Nyayo Stadium Roundabout that may even further affect Mombasa Road traffic.
Due to the closure, The Langata – Nairobi-bound traffic will be diverted to the Madaraka Roundabout. The motorists will then be allowed to only use Aerodrome Road into Bunyala Roundabout.
“KeNHA advises motorists to follow the proposed traffic management plan and cooperate with the police and traffic marshals on site,” the notice reads.
“Motorists are further urged to exercise caution and road courtesy for better management of traffic.”
The roadworks are part of the ongoing construction of the Nairobi Expressway.
The 27km road, which is set to be completed by 2022, is expected to ease traffic jams on Mombasa Road.
