Governors from Ukambani on Wednesday will hold a meeting bringing together leaders from the region at the Machakos Convention Center from 10:00 am.
This is after the Southern Eastern Kenya Economic Bloc (SEKEB) leadership; Dr. Alfred Mutua, Prof. Kivutha Kibwana and H.E. Madam Charity Ngilu agreed to meet during a virtual meeting.
The leaders also resolved to mobilise the people from the three counties as well as those in the diaspora to register as voters once the second mass registration kicks off later this month.
“To prepare for this, we shall hold a leaders meeting bringing together elected and nominated political leaders, religious leaders, professionals, women, youth leaders, former elected leaders to layout strategies of carrying out this noble exercise,” read a statement from the Governors.
The meeting will also discuss the political future of the region ahead of the 2022 General election.
The second and final phase of the Enhanced Continuous Voter Registration (ECVR) has been set for January 17th to 6th February 2022.
This comes after the electoral commission received additional funds from the National Treasury in preparation for the General Election.
”Following additional funding by the National Treasury, the Commission will from 17th January to 6th February 2022, conduct the second and final phase of the Enhanced Continuous Voter Registration (ECVR) in preparation for the General Election,” said Chebukati.
