ODM hands Senator James Orengo direct nomination ticket

The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) has issued direct nominations to James Aggrey Orengo who is seeking the Siaya gubernatorial seat in the August 9 polls.

This was reached following a consensus between Orengo and other contestants.

Orengo will be running against former Rarieda MP Nicholas Gumbo of the United Democratic Movement (UDM) in the race to succeed Cornel Rasanga.

This comes ahead of ODM’s primaries in Siaya County which are slated for Wednesday, April 13, for the parliamentary seats, MCAs and the woman representative.

East African Legislative Assembly(EALA) MP Oburu Oginga, Ugunja MP Opiyo Wandayi, and Rarieda MP Otiende Amolo have also bagged direct nominations for their respective bids.

Wandayi and Amolo are seeking to defend their current seats.

The announcement follows hours after ODM issued a nomination schedule for Siaya, Homabay, Migori, Narok, Nairobi, and Kajiado counties.
